Unfortunately, becoming parents is not always as easy as once thought.  Infertility is the inability to conceive for one year of unprotected intercourse.  This can be very frustrating for couples, resulting in feelings of anxiety and confusion.  Knowing and understanding the common causes of infertility is helpful when trying to decide how to proceed and make an informed decision related to choices and challenges.

" The distress experienced by couples who come to realize that they have an infertility problem is multi-faceted - affecting all aspects of their lives and relationships, from the intimacy of the marriage to the expectations of family and friends.  The goals of the Infertility evaluation include education and support as well as identifying the cause of infertility and providing the best possible treatment," according to Carol A. Bergquist, M.D., Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Odessa, Texas.

Medical Center Hospital provides diagnostic testing for women participating in infertility programs.  Services include pelvic ultrasounds and various laboratory tests, as ordered by your physician.  Treatment options are varied depending on the individual situation.
