As nurses, we value our commitment to establish and maintain an exceptional standard of individualized care and compassion for all clients wherever we encounter them in the life continuum. As a professional health care team, we will strive to be responsive to the needs of patients, families, and significant others. In a partnership with them and our interdisciplinary colleagues, we will promote the optimal health potential for each client by embracing practices and values that will help accomplish this goal. We accept patients, families, significant others and the health care team without regard to socioeconomic, cultural, religious or background differences. This value forms the foundation for the practice of empathy, responsiveness, trust, and caring for each other. We recognize that we can accomplish our goals by working as a cohesive team in an atmosphere of sensitivity for all those whose lives we touch. As nurses concerned with holistic care and service, we value the importance of seeking out professional and personal development endeavors that will help us maintain competency in order to deliver safe and effective care to our patients, families and significant others. This educational process will enable us to provide an environment for our clients where they will achieve the highest level of prevention, recovery, rehabilitation, education, or death with dignity. As professionals and patient advocates we are responsible and accountable for our practice and committed to providing quality care. To accomplish this, we will serve as role models by subscribing to high standards of practice in the daily care of our patients. To assure quality, we will become proactive and implement initiatives that will promote and preserve this level of care. As peers, high priority will be given to caring and listening to needs expressed by our colleagues with sensitivity and a willingness to respond and provide a supportive environment conducive to sharing. We will encourage each other to balance personal and professional responsibilities and to serve as role models by practicing behaviors that promote health, wellness, and productivity as care givers. |
