Each year, the Governor of Texas honors three individuals who gave their lives while in the line of duty. The award is known as the Texas Governor’s Star Award and is given in memory of a fireman, a police officer and a paramedic. People who knew these fighting souls are the one’s who nominate these individuals.

On March 21, 2004, MCH CareStar lost two such individuals who put their lives on the line so that others would live.

2004 Award Recipient - Paul Lujan

MCH CareStar Paramedic Paul Lujan was nominated for this award by numerous friends and family members. There was a tremendous outpouring of support from this region on Paul’s behalf.  Paul was selected by the Governor’s office as the Paramedic recipient.
